David Beneke
Director
David Beneke is a senior structural engineer with specialist skills in finite element analysis. Upon graduating in 1990 he joined Hyder Consulting and was involved in the design of large commercial developments, high rise buildings and towers. He joined Cardno in 1995 and was involved in complex computer analysis using finite element methods as well as product research for a number of Australian companies.
He has had experience with sophisticated modelling and analysis techniques (MSC.FEA, MSC.AFEA and Strand7) and used them for a various range of structures including those affected by harmonic response, non-linearity and buckling. David is currently a Professional Simulation Engineer (Advanced) with NAFEMS (National Agency for Finite Element Methods and Standards). David has chartered membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia (CPEng) and Engineering New Zealand (CMEngNZ) with engineering registrations in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.
He is currently a committee member for Standards Australia in steel storage racking (AS4084.1) and polyethylene storage tanks (AS/NZS4766).
SEAN LING
Mechanical Engineer and Analyst
Sean Ling is a Mechanical Engineer and Analyst at David Beneke Consulting, specializing in Finite Element Analysis (FEA), mechanical and structural design. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering Honours (Aeronautical) from the University of Sydney, where he achieved First Class Honours.
Sean has worked in light gauge steel racking, plastic storage tanks, witnessing of fastener testing, and engineering calculations for ceilings and claddings. He has significant experience now in the engineering verification of storage racking and logistics systems for major clients such as Schaefer, Bito, Stow and Vanderlande.
Beyond mechanical and structural engineering, Sean has a background in computational fluid dynamics (CFD), object-oriented programming (TypeScript), and UAV design. He has also previously participated in industry-level aeronautical projects for the Australian Defence Force (ADF) in university.
He is proficient in English, Malay, and Mandarin.
